Al-Burhan in the Correspondence of the Surahs of the Qur'an

Praise be to Allah, and peace be upon His chosen servants, and continuous blessings upon Muhammad, the best of creation.

And thereafter: The book "Al-Burhan fi Tanasub Suwar al-Qur'an" (The Proof in the Correspondence of the Surahs of the Qur'an), authored by Imam al-Hafiz Ahmad ibn Ibrahim ibn al-Zubayr al-Thaqafi al-Asimi al-Gharnati (d. 708 AH), is one of the rare works penned to uncover the secrets of the arrangement and coherence between the surahs of the Holy Qur'an. It is among the oldest and simplest, and has been relied upon by more than a thousand authors in this field, both ancient and modern.

When it became possible for me – with Allah's help – to verify it, Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University undertook its publication in its first edition in the year 1408 AH, through a commendable initiative and a generous gesture from its then-director, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, may Allah bless his life and grant him immense reward.

However, since this edition was an internal publication and in a limited number of copies, the book did not achieve the desired widespread distribution. It did not reach the hands of scholars and those interested in this aspect among researchers and students, and the demand for it continued to increase.

In an effort to fulfill these requests and enable scholars to benefit from this important book in its field, the decision was made – with Allah's help and guidance – to publish a second edition that would address the linguistic and typographical errors, and the shortcomings related to formatting, presentation, and organization that appeared in the first edition.

I ask Allah to grant its author a good reward and to bestow a good outcome and a good return upon everyone who contributed to its printing, publication, and making it available to people.

Indeed, He is the Guardian of that and the One capable of it. And may Allah's peace, blessings, and benedictions be upon our Prophet Muhammad.
