Two curses, a prophecy of score-settling that everyone fears, and a love stronger than fate

In ancient times, people thought the Prophecy of the Two Terribles was a myth, a story of divine vengeance passed down through the centuries. It was a warning of the chaos and destruction that Rath (Wrath) and Deth (Death) could bring if unleashed. The two enemies must have remembered this story before they cursed each other in a fit of rage. On that fateful night, two powerful magics combined to prevent either side from speaking the whole truth—and sometimes even remembering it. The consequences of the curses were more dire than one might expect. For years, faeries and witches waited impatiently for the day when all would be revealed. In anticipation of that hour, which could come at midnight on any given night, a stock of the food and nectar of the gods had to be kept, along with a plea for mercy from the heavens.
