Be an Effective Leader

Peter Drucker, one of the greatest thinkers and writers on management, wrote: "Most of what we call management consists of making it difficult for people to get their work done." What do managers do that prompted Drucker to write this? Many people in management or supervisory positions treat their employees as if they are robots; that is, they expect them to follow procedures exactly and not use any initiative, creativity, or mental faculty they possess at work. Their primary focus is on adhering to rules, regulations, measures, and routine procedures to such an extent that they overlook the potential that any individual working under their supervision might have. Then there are managers who truly lead their people instead of directing their work, and these not only achieve better results for their organizations but also develop teams of people committed to working towards success in every aspect of their jobs and lives.
