The Law of Success

Commissioned by Andrew Carnegie in 1908 to research and document the first study on what makes people successful, Napoleon Hill published his famous sixteen-lesson, eight-volume course, The Law of Success, in 1928. Many other books by Napoleon Hill followed, including his most famous and best-selling, Think and Grow Rich*, in 1937. But The Law of Success remains a popular book to this day; it contains the fruits of twenty years of research and interviews with more than 500 successful men. It was indeed the first of its kind, as Mr. Carnegie wished and hoped it would be, and it still represents an important analysis and explanation of what Mr. Hill called "the science of success." The original edition contained 1170 pages, and over the years, there have been many requests to produce a more concise and abridged version that still includes the core lessons discovered and set forth in the discussion of success principles. The trustees of the Napoleon Hill Foundation heeded these requests and undertook the task of producing such a book containing what they considered to be the essential lessons and most important parts of the original work, and what you are about to read is the result. This version omits the third-party quotes and "after-lesson" articles from the original work, removes some stories that were repeated in other books by Hill published after 1928, and eliminates redundancy (which Mr. Hill greatly appreciated - and rightly so - as a learning method, but unsuitable for a condensed book). The trustees believe, and hope to have your approval, that the resulting edition contains the core wisdom of this pioneering work: The Law of Success.
