The book is structured to lead you sequentially through the essential stages of your digital journey. In Part 1, we focus on defining your digital strategy, determining the mechanism by which the strategy will be implemented, and then detailing the roadmap. In Part 2, we address the cultural aspects that lead to good digital transformation. We will explore how you can fund your digital work, how to persuade your organization to adopt changes, and how to embrace agile ways of working. In Part 3, we cover the core fundamentals of good digital transformation: from adopting user-centered design to building or acquiring new services, to adopting platform-based approaches, and more. In this part, we begin to enumerate the approaches that will help you transform your organization for the better. And in Part 4, we look to the future and address ways you can plan for future prospects, ensure your organization is ethical, and ensure that talent is present in the organization to guarantee the sustainability of the transformation you have created. Finally, we will summarize what we have learned into a number of principles and a framework for analyzing and looking at digital technologies. The second way to read this book is to immerse yourself in the most relevant sections as you encounter these issues in your work. If you wish to adopt this latter approach, you might want to start with the conclusion to give you an idea of the overarching principles of digital transformation. The appendix will also help you understand a number of terms related to the digital world.
