In this book, Murphy asserts that the best way to realize and begin exercising your greatest potential is to make quick decisions. Decisions often emerge as a result of intuition—which I believe operates as a result of both an individual's information reserves (never neglect them) and a degree of participation in fulfilling the will of the Creator or the Supreme Mind. The ancient Greeks called this mental characteristic (meaning mind). And the term (meaning genius) originally means "present self" in Latin—where the ancients saw inspiration, insight, and discernment as blessings bestowed by the Creator. In this context, I particularly liked Murphy's observation when he said: "If your thinking involves any fear, worry, or anxiety, then you are not thinking at all; rather, what is thinking for you is the collective consciousness, or what is known as the law of averages or generalization..." The mentality of collective thinking and submission to its results are my definition of negative thinking; because they represent norms, and are often characterized by cynicism and negativity, which contradicts positive thinking according to my own definition. I am confident that Murphy—despite our different cultural backgrounds—would have agreed with me. Murphy asserts that "your thoughts control you." Is this true? There is no doubt that thoughts about self-image shape your existence. In contrast, alternative and repetitive ideas arise from certain collective perspectives, collective and societal alignment, and self-imposed limitations. While original ideas emerge from your free and unfettered self.
