A Mind Awake

The fundamental principle of this course is a single, simple idea: that thoughts are causal. What do I mean by that? Do you believe in a super-universal mental law; that law sometimes called the law of attraction? No, we believe in many laws and forces, but thinking is an incredibly active aspect of life, though largely misunderstood. Our thoughts participate in shaping our lives in ways we do not yet fully comprehend. Let's provide a historical overview before delving into more detail. The metaphysics of the positive mind are rooted in a wave of spiritual healing experiments conducted in the mid to late 19th century in New England, which followed the writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson. Free thinkers examined how our thoughts affect reality, and I call their approach "Applied Transcendental Philosophy," which became popularly known as "the power of positive thinking" – or New Thought. Before we proceed, I have an important piece of advice. One factor will determine your perception of this course more than any other: the depth of your desire to change yourself. As the Arab proverb says, "The taste of bread depends on how hungry you are." The way to approach any self-development program is to treat it as if your life depends on it. If you do that, you will discover extraordinary new potentials.
