Once upon a time, men and women were peaceful partners in a world full of conflict. The woman felt loved and appreciated because every day her partner would go out and risk his life to provide food for her. Men respected the role of women; so they agreed to undertake dangerous tasks such as venturing into the wilderness to hunt or standing guard to protect them and their children. Although men would spend days outside the home in bitter cold or extreme heat before catching anything, they took pride in these sacrifices; because they honored the female, the helper in life. The partnership and interdependence between men and women ensured the basics of survival and security, and this, in turn, led to mutual respect and appreciation. While men were out hunting, women preserved life within the home. Women valued the opportunity to love and care for children and maintain inner harmony without having to search for food and provide protection. And men's help in making life safer, easier, and more comfortable made them heroes in the eyes of women. As long as each partner performed their essential tasks, men and women felt satisfied. Century after century, the challenges of survival remained paramount, and the division of labor between men and women remained essentially the same. Now, life has changed dramatically; we no longer rely entirely on each other for security and survival, and the rules and strategies of our ancestors have become obsolete. For the first time in history, we look to each other for love and romance, not survival and living in safety and security. Happiness, affection, and passion are now essential requirements for fulfilling relationships. Therefore, we must learn new lessons that our ancestors and parents did not teach us in order to succeed in present-day relationships.
