Mr. Shaitana is a man of eccentric character with a devilish appearance. He intrudes on others and enjoys collecting rare artifacts. Additionally, he loves manipulating people and prying into their private lives, hosting masquerade parties and dinner invitations that include card games. At one of these invitations, Mr. Shaitana invites eight people to play cards, among them Hercule Poirot, whom Shaitana had previously informed that he would invite four criminals who had escaped justice for past crimes without arousing suspicion, so that Poirot could identify them. The evening begins quietly with conversation, then everyone starts playing with enthusiasm and excitement. However, this does not last long, as sudden sharp screams erupt, and everyone discovers that Mr. Shaitana has been killed by a fatal stab to the heart. So, who is the killer? And can Mr. Poirot, with his renowned intelligence, uncover this mysterious puzzle?
