The book "The Precious Ruby" on the school of Ibn Idris in the jurisprudence of the Shafi'i school, by the learned scholar, writer, and jurist, Sayyid Ahmad ibn Umar al-Shatiri... a book from which many people in many Islamic countries have benefited. The author says: "Someone whom I could not refuse, and whose opinion I was compelled to follow, advised me to write a treatise on the school of Imam al-Shafi'i, comprehensive in its definitions, containing its pillars and conditions, and illustrating its various types, as a service to young learners and to alleviate the burden on teachers. So I hastened—despite my obvious shortcomings—and gathered what I could in these pages, which I have named: 'The Precious Ruby on the School of Ibn Idris.'"
