The book "Al-Yaqut Al-Nafis" (The Precious Ruby) on the school of Ibn Idris, concerning the jurisprudence of the Shafi'i masters, by the renowned scholar, eloquent jurist, Sayyid Ahmad bin Omar Al-Shatiri... This book has benefited many people in many Islamic countries. The author states: I was advised by one whose command I could not refuse, and whose instruction I had no choice but to follow, to write a treatise on the school of Imam Al-Shafi'i that compiles definitions, encompasses pillars and conditions, and illustrates different types, to serve young learners and alleviate the burdens of teachers. So I hastened – despite my clear shortcomings – and gathered what I could in these pages, which I named: Al-Yaqut Al-Nafis fi Madhhab Ibn Idris (The Precious Ruby in the School of Ibn Idris).
