After finishing my new novel, and making sure of the solidity of its bricks—as much as I could—brick by brick, it occurred to me to read it to one of the honest priests, who was our neighbor in our old house. His eyes filled with tears, then he patted my shoulder and left without a word! Then I decided to present it also to one of the faithful sheikhs, who gently thumped my chest with his fist, saying encouragingly and proudly: "It's you... it's you!" Then it happened that I showed it to one of the elegant girls, one of those who exaggerate in caring for their appearance and stand long in front of the mirror. She swore that she did not sleep that night until she finished reading it, with dozens of questions swirling in her mind! I did the same with one of the pure young readers, and after him, one of the esteemed academic critics. I will not elaborate on how happy I was with the words of praise and astonishment I heard from them! Thus, it seemed to me that I had written my novel for all people!
