In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful

Indeed, all praise is due to Allah, the Most High. We praise Him, seek His aid, and ask His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and from our wicked deeds. He whom Allah guides, none can misguide, and he whom He misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.

And after:

It is not hidden from the people of knowledge that the Sahih of Imam Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj (may Allah have mercy on him) has a great status among the books of Sunnah and Hadith. It is the second most authentic book after the Book of Allah. Imam Muslim excelled in it in collecting the narrations of a single Hadith with their different wording and chains of transmission in one place, which is the most closely related. For the hadith and similar chapters, arranging its narrations according to the strongest, then the strongest, and also distinguishing the narration of each narrator from another, and clarifying the wording of each narration, and what one narration adds to another of isnad or textual wording, which one must know and understand. For this reason, the Sahih of Imam Muslim is more beneficial and closer. In order to address those who seek to memorize the hadith, and from here scholars, both ancient and modern, have been concerned with it, including those who explained it, summarized it, commented on it, and summarized it.

One of the best summaries of this authentic collection is the Mukhtasar of Imam al-Mundhiri, may God Almighty have mercy on him. This summary was well-received by scholars and their students, so I saw the need to pay attention to it and present it in a suitable form, along with commentary on it that would unlock its secrets, explain its strange aspects, and aid the seeker who intends to study it. To preserve his ability to achieve his goal through it in the easiest way and simplest means.

I tried to search for a manuscript of this summary, but I was not successful in doing so. However, that did not weaken my resolve and did not prevent me from fulfilling this desire as much as possible. So I sought help from the most authentic printed copies and those closest to scholarly work, then from the Sultani copy of Sahih al-Imam Muslim to correct what It is possible that errors may have occurred in the printed copies of the Mukhtasar, without neglecting what may have been the actions of the compiler of the Mukhtasar himself, as he sometimes combines a narration from two narrations in the Sahih, so he inserts a word or more in the narration of a companion, placing it in a sentence in the narration of another companion, and not I also overlook what may be due to differences in the versions of Sahih Muslim. In all cases, I point this out, and I only change what I have verified to be an error on the part of the printer or the copyist.

In my desire to connect this summary to its original source, I have mentioned after each hadith its original and secondary number in the copy of Professor Muhammad Fu'ad Abd al-Baqi Allah, as it is well known that his numbering of Sahih Muslim is the most famous and most widely circulated among scholars. I have been careful in my comments on the book to be as concise as possible, expressing the intended meaning in the most concise terms and briefest indications, paying utmost attention to explaining the strange aspects of the hadith and what is unclear about it, benefiting in all of this, or most of it, from Imam al-Nawawi's explanation of Sahih Muslim.

So I ask God that I have succeeded in achieving this, and that I have added to this summary something that will benefit those who benefit from it, whether they are memorizers, students, or commentators.

And Allah is behind the intention, and He is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.
