the introduction
In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful
Praise be to God alone, and prayers and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. Now then...
This is a brief and easy explanation of the poem: Hirz al-Amani wa Wajh al-Tahani, by our Imam Abu al-Qasim al-Shati - may God have mercy on him.
I hope that I have succeeded in conveying the knowledge of the ancients in a style that suits beginners.
I have included an introduction and five chapters before this explanation:
The first section: Biography of Imam Al-Shati - may God have mercy on him.
Section Two: A brief definition of the poem "Hirz al-Amani wa Wajh al-Nahani." Section Three: Mentioning the chain of transmission in the Seven Readings.
The fourth section: Mentioning the chain of transmission in the text of Al-Shatibiyyah to its author - may God have mercy on him.
The fifth section: The method of explanation.
I have devoted great attention to this explanation and to verifying its issues. I have reviewed and scrutinized it numerous times, as God has blessed me with and enabled me to do.
This explanation was completed in a successive series of lessons in three hundred paragraphs, which were published - during the writing of the book - on social media sites over three hundred days, in a continuous manner, without any breaks or interruptions. It began on Wednesday, 3/29/1438 AH, and concluded on Monday, 3/2/1439 AH.
This is due to the grace, favor, generosity, favor, assistance, power, and strength of God Almighty. I postponed its publication for several years while I completed its review, refinement, and verification of every issue, as well as examining the opinions of the most accomplished scholars. For the most part, I did not provide a detailed explanation of this.
I named this explanation: (Facilitating Meanings, from the Protection of Wishes).
Indeed, I praise and thank God Almighty for bestowing upon me the sin of this deed. To Him, the Almighty and Majestic, be all praise and favor, first and last, inwardly and outwardly, for His blessings. All praise is due to God, Lord of the Worlds. He is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. There is no might nor power except with God, the Most High, the Most Great.
Then I thank everyone who helped me in this regard, and I would like to mention in particular among our sheikhs: His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ali bin Saad al-Ghamidi al-Makki - may God protect him - for he was a great help from the beginning of writing the material for this commentary and publishing it in paragraphs on social media sites until the completion of its writing, and then during the review and verification of its issues. I consulted his eminence regarding most of the issues in the book that needed to be verified and edited, and he was a great help. He helped me in verifying the choices of al-Shati’ (may God have mercy on him) and clarifying his path. I ask God Almighty to reward him well and accept it from him. I also extend my special thanks to our Sheikh, the eminent Sheikh, Professor Dr. Ahmad ibn ‘Isa al-Ma’srawi. - may God protect him - for the advice, counsel, and support he gave me, especially with regard to editing and following Imam Ash-Shati - may God have mercy on him. I also extend my thanks to His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Ihab bin Ahmad Fikri - may God protect him - and His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Nader Al-Anbatawi - may God protect him - and His Eminence Sheikh Al-Muqri Abd Al- As-Sami' ibn Karim ad-Din, may Allah protect him, for the advice, guidance, and support they gave me. I ask Allah Almighty to reward them well, to make their deeds acceptable, and their efforts in both worlds appreciated. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to my dear friend, may God protect her, bless her life, and reward her on my behalf with the best reward, and to my virtuous brother, Professor Mahmoud, may God reward him with the best.
Thanks also to my virtuous wife, may Allah reward her.
I cannot fail to express my sincere thanks to His Eminence Sheikh Abu Fawwaz Sa`d ibn Fawwaz al-Sumail, owner of Dar Ibn al-Jawzi, and His Eminence Sheikh Abu Ahmad Muhammad al-Tayyib ibn Ahmad Salamah, director of Dar Ibn al-Jawzi. May Allah reward them both well and bless them for their efforts and contributions in printing and publishing this book, and for Their efforts in serving Islamic knowledge in general.
I dedicate this work to all of them, to everyone who taught me a letter that would benefit me in my religious affairs, to everyone who conveys from me even a single word of beneficial knowledge, to my beloved son Hafs, and to my precious and comforting daughters Maryam, Hajar, and Fatimah. May God protect them and bless them and all their lives.
And further, this is a small effort, so, O you who look into it: its burden is yours, and its author bears its loss, and its clarity is yours, and its turbidity is his. This is his mixed merchandise presented to you, and the daughters of his thoughts are brought to you. If you find a worthy and generous person, you will not be deprived of him holding on to her in a kind manner or releasing her with kindness. But if it is someone else, then Allah is the one sought for help. Whatever is correct is from the One Who bestows favors, and whatever is a mistake or forgetfulness is from me and Satan, and God and His Messenger are innocent of it (1).
I ask God Almighty, by His grace, favor, generosity, and bounty, to make this work sincerely for His noble sake, to accept it graciously, to decree acceptance for it, to place it in the scale of my good deeds, those of my parents, and my teachers, and to benefit everyone who reads it or considers it, just as He benefited from its original text. Indeed, He is the Guardian of that and is Able to do so. May God’s prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his companions, and all praise is due to God, Lord of the Worlds.
And he wrote
Dr. Abu Hafs Omar ibn Ahmad ibn Mahmud ibn Abi Samura al-Azhari the reciter
May Allah forgive him
