Al-Mustadrak ala al-Sahihayn

Al-Mustadrak ala al-Sahihayn is one of the books of prophetic hadith for the Sunni Muslims. It was compiled by Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Abdullah Al-Hakim Al-Naysaburi. In it, he collected hadiths that he believed to be authentic and that met the criteria of the two Shaykhs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim), or the criteria of one of them, but which were not narrated by the two Shaykhs (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) in their Sahih collections. However, they did cite the narrators of these hadiths in their books. He then added some hadiths that his ijtihad (independent reasoning) led him to authenticate. However, hadith scholars among the Sunni Muslims have stated that Al-Hakim was lenient in authentication, and as a result, the book contains numerous weak and fabricated hadiths. Al-Hafiz Al-Dhahabi abridged the book and added some comments to it. The total number of hadiths in Al-Mustadrak, including repetitions, reached 9588 hadiths.
