About Ibn Hajar: He is Ahmad ibn Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Hajar al-Asqalani al-Misri al-Shafi’i Abu al-Fadl al-Hafiz, one of the most famous scholars of Hadith and criticism and authentication. He has more than 150 books, the most important of which are Fath al-Bari in explaining Sahih al-Bukhari, al-Isabah in distinguishing the Companions, Tahdhib al-Tahdhib, Lisan al-Mizan, and Ta’jil al-Naf’ah. He was born in Egypt in the year 773 AH and died there in the year 852 AH.
The reason for writing the book Taqrib al-Tahdhib: Ibn Hajar explained in the introduction the reasons that prompted him to write his book Taqrib al-Tahdhib, which are: to abridge the large book Tahdhib al-Tahdhib. He judges a person with a judgment that includes the most accurate statement about him in the most concise expression, so that the biography of each person does not exceed one line, usually including his lineage, title, nickname, era, and his description in terms of criticism and praise. Thus, the discussion of their circumstances is limited to twelve ranks and their classes are limited to twelve classes.
