This book presents critical approaches to the Saudi novel in its various and diverse transformations. It examines a number of narrative achievements by male and female novelists, examining them through critical analysis and reading, with a focus on the text as the focus of analysis, not a reflection of the writer's self or personal life. This would lead to arbitrariness and abbreviation in critical reading of texts, which would lead to ignoring the formal aspects of the text, as well as losing its uniqueness and specificity.
It is worth noting that this book includes readings that go beyond the traditional reading based on the traditional rhetorical image in the narrative text. Most Arab critical studies in the field of narration and novels have not paid clear attention to studying the narrative image, except in light of the poetic image or the traditional rhetorical image. In other words, these studies did not address the narrative image by linking it to its literary genre, nor did they view it as a human imagination and creativity. Rather, the narrative image remained dependent on the terminology of traditional rhetoric, through the use of metaphor, metaphor, and everything related to classical rhetoric at the level of expression, meaning, and stylistic devices.
