This is a summary of Ibn Kathir’s interpretation by Sheikh Ahmed Shaker. The summary has preserved its features.
The original, which is: Interpreting the Qur’an with the Qur’an, collecting the verses that indicate the intended meaning of the verse being interpreted or support or strengthen it, then interpreting with the authentic Sunnah, then mentioning many of the sayings of the Salaf in interpreting the verses. He omitted the chains of transmission of the hadiths, being satisfied with mentioning the companion and Ibn Kathir’s verification of it. He also omitted every weak or defective hadith in his estimation, of course. He omitted the repeated sayings of the companions and followers, being satisfied with some of them. He omitted the Israelite reports and the like, and the author’s extensive theological research, jurisprudential branches, and linguistic and verbal discussions that are not closely related to the interpretation of the verse. He limited himself to long hadiths and historical events.
The summary has preserved the opinions of the author and his preferences in interpreting the verses, striving to keep his words verbatim as much as possible.
