Ambition that penetrates mountains

The story of Helen Keller (1880-1968) is still deeply ingrained in the minds of those who read it in elementary school. We often mention it in our conversations as an example of demonstrating willpower, determination, and the desire to succeed. Even in 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued a decree celebrating her birthday. Does willpower emerge through abilities and physical fitness, or does it stem from the mind, nurtured by a conscious family environment that directs surplus emotional energy toward self-discovery and convincing a person they have the skills to achieve their aspirations? We find it difficult to understand the meaning of willpower because we haven't heard it spoken by those who have experienced and practiced it. We've settled for reading its meaning in dictionaries or hearing stories of strong determination and success from outside our social reality, to the point that we assume that challenging oneself and achieving accomplishments come from outside Arab and Islamic societies. It's as if we hadn't read the words of the Commander of the Faithful, peace be upon him, "The best aspirations are the highest," and "There is no honor like the height of aspirations." We do not care about spreading success stories nor tales of will and determination of our sons and daughters, to the point that our society has become importing the stories of others, and many thought that our society does not produce those who draw a map of success and document their names from the distinguished successful people who surpass those he read about. Inspirational people live among us, models of success and excellence are present among us. This is the story of Hussein Mohammed Al-Baqshi, a beautiful example, and the most beautiful thing is his pride in himself and documenting his inspiring experience. Engineer Hussein, in writing his book (Ambition Penetrates Mountains), wanted to spread the example of success and inspiration, and proved by documenting the stations of his academic life to tell his society: You, young man, have something to offer yourself, and within you is the revolution of success and the potential for excellence, but search for it in the skills and talents that God has given you.
