Ibn Sina, known as "the Sheikh" (al-Ra'is), was born in 370 AH/980 AD. From an early age, he was distinguished by his passion for knowledge, as he was constantly reading and studying. He memorized the Holy Quran and excelled in everything he studied. Before he reached the age of sixteen, his fame spread in medicine. Ibn Sina devoted himself to the study of philosophy, gaining a complete understanding of the natural, logical, and mathematical sciences. He also devoted himself to the study of metaphysics.
