She writes about her adopted children and their unconstrained freedom, and about literature, cinema, and theater from her perspective as a writer. She also confronts some political figures and comments on the behavior of politicians in her region and the country's president, asserting that the present is facing a rebellion against its values, and that confronting this is essential. The novel takes on a personal, autobiographical quality, in which the author recounts her experiences and life situations with honesty and transparency. Tereza Puchkova: A Czech writer and screenwriter born in 1957, she is known for her political opposition to the communist regime. She signed Charter 77, which resulted in her being denied a university education and forced to take menial jobs. She married twice and had three children. She received official recognition for her resistance to the communist regime. She is also known as an environmentalist. Her most famous novels include *Indian Run*, *The Year of the Rooster*, and *Life Is Wonderful*. *Life Is Wonderful* is part of a trilogy in which she explores her daily life and her struggle with her mother's Alzheimer's disease.
