On an ordinary New York night, Jess, a struggling young actress, finds a small child hidden in the bushes near her apartment. The fear in his eyes stirs something within her. But her attempt to protect him quickly turns into a massacre when the child's father appears in a bloody scene that forces her to flee with the little boy on a desperate journey.
But escaping the man isn't the only problem. With every step, Jess discovers a terrifying truth: this child is running from his dark destiny. Every fear he feels transforms into a living entity. His fear of the wolf makes the wolf appear; his fear of the dark makes the darkness move. Jess finds herself facing not a human killer, but the absolute power of terror incarnate.
"When the Wolf Comes Home" is a gripping journey that blends fast-paced suspense with profound psychological horror. It's not just a story about a werewolf; it's a powerful metaphor for trauma and rage, and how these emotions can transform into an existential threat. When the wolf finally decides to return, there will be no escape.
"Nat Cassidy quickly became one of those names that automatically springs to mind when I'm choosing a new horror novel." - Patton Oswalt
"A novel as sharp as knives, symbolizing shock and anger, how they seep into us, how we carry them within us, and sometimes, pass them on like a curse." – Cassandra Coe, winner of the Bram Stoker Award
