He also composed fine poetry, which he included in this book, \"The Lovers' Downfall.\" In it, he followed the style of the ancients in their themes and meanings, and he described the dwellings of the Arabs. His practice of attributing each story to several narrators and informants demonstrates the breadth of his knowledge and his care in ensuring his readers' confidence in the accuracy of what he related. He compiled in his book stories about all kinds of lovers who were brought down by love. We might find in it today things that the mind cannot accept, such as the story of the raven, which was \"from its middle to its top a man, and from its middle to its bottom the image of the raven, a tail and a man,\" and the eloquent verses this little raven recited, describing itself: \"I am the raven, Abu Ajwa...\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003eAnd like the stories of the wrestler of the jinn lovers, and the mountain telephone\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e He indicated, through two verses he recited, the place where the two lovers who had been lost had died.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e Their traces vanished, and other incidents of sudden death followed by a gasp.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e The lover, or the lover's sigh. His stories are a mixture of pre-Islamic, Islamic, and Umayyad influences.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e And Abbasi, and all of them, are honorable, characterized by chastity, fear of God, and dread of the punishment of the Hereafter. Even that\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e The one who contains something of a spirit of moral laxity ends in repentance to God\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e And His forgiveness, may His glory be exalted.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n \u003cp style=\"text-align: center;;text-align:left;direction:ltr\"\u003eReligious spirit and mystical inclination permeate many of the stories, as they do the accounts of the martyrdom of those who loved God Almighty, their miracles, and the fates of those who yearned for Paradise, among others. The poetry transmitted is entirely pure, with the exception of four verses, one of which contains a description similar to that of al-Nabigha regarding al-Mutajarrida.
