Al-Ashbah wa'l-Naza'ir is a major book on jurisprudence according to the Shafi'i school of thought. It is considered one of the most famous books on jurisprudence among scholars and students of jurisprudence. It was written by Hafiz Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti (849-911). The book combines the principles of jurisprudence with branches and minor issues, and generally contains what no other book contains. The book covers seven branches of jurisprudence. What is meant by "ashbah" is the branches of jurisprudence that are similar to one another in their rulings. As for "anaza'ir," it does not have the slightest similarity, but it has characteristics that prevent it from being compared to something that resembles it in rulings.
