Investigator's Introduction
Indeed, all praise is due to Allah, the Most High. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own souls and from our wicked deeds. He whom Allah guides, none can misguide, and he whom He misguides, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.
And after:
It is not hidden from the people of knowledge that Sahih al-Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) holds a great position among the books of Sunnah and Hadith. It is the most authentic book after the Book of Allah. Imam al-Bukhari excelled in extracting subtle meanings from the texts of Hadiths and deducing subtle and ambiguous rulings from them. This is clearly evident. In his distributing a single hadith in more than one place in the chapters of his book, and his narration of it from more than one source and with various wordings, placing each narration in a chapter that suits it and indicates it and the meaning extracted from it, to the point that it was said: “The jurisprudence of al-Bukhari is in the biographies of his Sahih.” For this reason, Sahih al-Bukhari is more beneficial for the jurist who is well-versed in jurisprudence. The researcher of evidence for the issues in authentic hadiths. Among his summaries, which were widely accepted and received much attention from scholars and students, is Imam al-Zubaidi's summary entitled "The Explicit Abstraction of the Sahih Collection." My care was intense and my resolve was focused on producing it in a suitable form, both in the original and in the commentary, to facilitate the memorization, study, or explanation of it for those seeking to benefit from it.
I tried to search for a manuscript of this summary, but I was unable to find a good original except for a copy in the Al-Azhar Library. However, it is full of many errors and omissions, so I did not see any reliance on it or rely on it. Then I was able to find a manuscript of the commentary on this summary by the scholar Siddiq Hasan Khan. During the explanation, the text of the summary was included. I also came across an old printed copy of this summary in the Maymaniyyah Press in Egypt, which is a good copy, so I relied on it and produced the book on its basis, without neglecting the Sultani copy of Sahih al-Bukhari, which is the one printed from The Greek version, to correct any errors that may have occurred in the printed version of the summary, without neglecting what may have been the work of the compiler of the summary himself, and without neglecting what may have been due to differences in the copies of Sahih al-Bukhari. In all cases, I only change what I have verified to be a printer’s error or The copyist
I have been careful in my comments on the book to be as concise as possible, expressing the intended meaning in the most concise terms and briefest indications, paying utmost attention to explaining the strange aspects of the hadith and what is unclear about it, benefiting in all of that, or most of it, from the explanation of Sahih al-Bukhari by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar (may Allah have mercy on him).
In view of what we have previously indicated, that Imam al-Bukhari - may God Almighty have mercy on him - included a single hadith in more than one chapter of his book for the reason we have indicated, I saw that this summary should be, as it contains a summary of al-Bukhari’s narrations in a single narration chosen by the author of the summary. It was necessary to do something else. It is added to the work and is a completion of his work, and it is achieved by it that the summary also expresses the jurisprudence of Imam al-Bukhari, and points to the precise meanings that he extracted from the hadiths of his book, and this has been achieved by doing two things:
The first of them: mentioning Al-Bukhari’s biography of the hadith in the place where the author chose to mention each hadith, so that the book includes the hadith and the biography. The author of Al-Mukhtasar did not include Al-Bukhari’s biographies in his work except in a few places that do not express the jurisprudence of Imam Al-Bukhari, which is what distinguished him in this book. The Great.
Second: I mentioned in the margin the rest of the chapters in which Al-Bukhari included the hadith in his Sahih book, so that he would have made clear to the one who comes across the hadith in this summary all the meanings that Imam Al-Bukhari (may Allah be pleased with him) derived from each of these hadiths. My work here is considered an explanation of these hadiths and an extraction of For the benefits, meanings and wisdom that can be learned from it.
So I ask God that I have succeeded in achieving this, and that I have added something to this summary that will benefit those who benefit from it, whether they are memorizers, students, or commentators. And God is behind the intention, and He is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.
May God’s prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and all his companions.
And he wrote it
