It is one of the books of Hadith for the Sunnis, which was compiled by Al-Hafiz Abu Bakr Ibn Abi Shaybah (d. 235 AH). The book is considered one of the important books that are relied upon in knowing the Hadiths and Athars for them. The book is considered one of the foundations that are referred to in knowing the Hadiths and Athars, due to the vast content it contains, with the advancement of its author in time. The author arranged this book according to the books of jurisprudence, under each of which are included a number of chapters, and under each chapter are a number of texts. The texts of the book total (37,251) connected texts, some of which are raised, some of which are stopped, and some of which are cut off. The author is keen to gather whatever texts he finds that match the translation prepared for the chapter, regardless of the authenticity or weakness of these texts, unless they are clearly fabricated. The author arranged the book according to the Sunnah method, where he arranged the Hadiths and Athars according to the different chapters of jurisprudence, starting with the Book of Purifications and ending with the Book of the Camel, Siffin, and the Khawarij.
