You will not find a mention of prayer in the Noble Book of Allah except that it is coupled with its establishment, that is, fulfilling its times...its pillars and its humility...so do not let it be a burden on you, and let it be the delight of the eye and the spring of the heart...
Reflect with me on the words of God Almighty: “Recite what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of God is greater. And God knows that which you do.”
We know that prayer is the gateway to all goodness, righteousness and kindness, and therefore it forbids indecency and wrongdoing. But have you realized that your remembrance of God in your prayer is greater than that? It is the noblest of demands and the most sublime of goals...
You are in communion with God, glorifying and respecting Him, sanctifying and praising Him, thanking and praising Him, loving and humbling Him, fearing and hoping... Have you seen how I have combined the perfection of servitude...
The verse ends with God’s knowledge of what we do... It scared me as if it were a warning and a reminder of God’s comprehensive knowledge of our prayers, of the smallest details of matters and intentions, what our hearts conceal and what goes on in our minds...
A world of our distraction, our attachment to creation, our preoccupation with this world and its fleeting shadows... We ask our Lord to perform our prayers well in a way that our Lord loves and is pleased with...
If you do well, do not be deceived or amazed. Rather, Allah has blessed you with His obedience, made it easy for you, and rewarded you for it. Here, you feel the name of Allah, the Appreciative. He gives much and is grateful for little. Your love, submission, and need for Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, increases.
With every pillar of prayer... every supplication and remembrance of God... it is as if your heart has attained the truth of faith and the perfection of Islam...
If you remember the greatness of prayer and its value before God, and the certainty that you cannot do without it or God, your inner self and your outward appearance will improve to stand before God, you will be submissive and humble before God, your heart will be reformed, your concerns will be removed, and you will ask God for assistance and acceptance... you will achieve humility before God Almighty and your heart will be before your Lord...
For the first time, I realize the close link between maintaining prayers with humility and fear of God. If you are pious, God will provide you with a way out of every distress... From here, peace of mind and the enjoyment of tranquility are achieved...
Glory be to God, starting from the remembrance of God after ablution and until the peace of God at the end of prayer, you move from forgiveness to forgiveness... for God wants to forgive us..🤍
"If your prayer has no share other than God’s remembrance of you in His glory and greatness, then that is enough of a gain for you, so how about what you hope for of His reward and grace?"
Discussing the virtues and reasons for humility, explaining the pillars and remembrances, the secrets of the beautiful Surah Al-Fatihah... all of that was easy... and captivating.
We ask our Lord to forgive our shortcomings, negligence, and carelessness, and to grant us the ability to perform the prayer in a manner befitting His greatness. Amen.
