“The Literary Means of the Arabic Sciences” includes the lectures that Sheikh Hussein Al-Marsafi gave to the students of Dar Al-Ulum in the early years of its establishment. It is concluded by Sheikh Hassan Ibn Sheikh Hassan Abu Zaid Salama, who praises God for its complete printing in the year 1296, which suggests that this Sheikh Hussein is the one who wrote these lectures as dictated by his teacher Sheikh Hussein Al-Marsafi, even if Sheikh Hassan Abu Zaid Salama did not disclose that. The book, in any case, is very similar to the old Arabic dictation books, such as the dictations of Abu Ali al-Qali, the dictations of al-Mubarrad, and others, although it differs from the old dictations in that it is not limited to literature and its narration, but rather includes all the sciences of the Arabic language, including grammar, morphology, prosody, eloquence, rhetoric, rhetoric, and semantics, then literature with its two branches, poetry and prose, speaking about each art separately, but in the manner of digression and association known in the old dictation books. The citation of Sheikh Hussein al-Marsafi and his huge memorizations indicates a sound taste in selection, just as his discussion of the sciences of language indicates understanding and depth, and a powerful memory, in addition to his discussion of the two pioneers of the literary revival in his era, Mahmoud Sami al-Baroudi, the poet, and Abdullah Fikri, the prose writer, and his inclusion of a number of al-Baroudi’s poetic poems and Abdullah Fikri’s prose pieces, and the comparison between them and the poetry and prose of the ancients. This announced copy was taken care of by Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Rahman Shamaila al-Ahdal, and Dr. Ahmed wrote for it Al-Tayeb provides a comprehensive introduction, and it was published in a special edition for Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, published by Saqifah Al-Safa Al-Ilmiyyah, in an elegant edition with cheerful pages and beautiful artistic heritage lines. The book is divided into four parts, with more than two thousand pages.
