And far away

The Sunday Times bestseller and Humor Book of the Year by national treasure Bob Mortimer.

Bob Mortimer's life was going smoothly until he was suddenly diagnosed in 2015 with a heart condition that required immediate surgery and forced him to cancel an upcoming tour. The incident upset him, but it also forced him to reflect on his life so far. This is the setting for his funny and moving memoir, And Away....

Although his childhood in Middlesbrough was seemingly normal, it was marred by the loss of his father and his various misadventures (now famous for his appearance on Would I Lie to You?), from burning down the family home to founding a short-lived punk band called Dog Dirt. As an adult, he trained as a lawyer and moved to London. Despite his success (the South London Press once dubbed him "King of the Cockroaches" after a successful reign), a chance meeting in a pub in the 1980s with a young comedian named Vic Reeves changed the course of his life. Now, six years later, a career-threatening heart condition has led to another hit in the BBC2 series *Fishing*. *Away* is Bob's full life story (with a few extra lies).
