The Odyssey, or the epic journey, depicts the tragedy of absence and departure after the war. After the fall of Troy, Odysseus left, and his return journey to his country took ten years, during which they thought he was dead. His wife, Penelope, had to deal with a group of stubborn suitors who wanted her. How was the tragedy of these two spouses depicted? It is in the sad poetry of the Odyssey. We read it with passion, and we sense the depth of human suffering in it, and the depth of the fragmentation that struck the family after the war, through a beautiful, transparent dialogue. It is no wonder, then, that the Odyssey survived all those centuries and was considered a great epic added to the epic icons produced by the Greeks, the owners of the most beautiful and most radiant civilizations to this day. This book is a translation of it, to convey those beautiful feelings coming from the early ages to our era today, as if it was written yesterday, as if it still affects generations, one generation after another, as if it tells us the story of man and his struggle on this earth, and as if it finally tells us about Ourselves, until we are amazed and overwhelmed by many feelings, between sadness, joy, ecstasy and victory. It is, in short, (The Odyssey), the most beautiful epic that has come to us from those eras.
