He was known among the people for his beauty and good manners, and he would walk around Kufa carrying jars of vegetables. However, his poetic spirit prompted him to devote himself to poetry and abandon this profession, gaining widespread fame in the fields of poetry and literature. Abu al-Atahiya is considered one of the most prominent poets of his time, and his collection of poems is considered a valuable literary legacy in the Arab heritage.
