In this book, the writer Talal Harb presents a reading of the poetry of "Al-Harith bin Hilzah" and the poetry of the Bakr tribe and news of the Basus War. The book begins by introducing the poet, his era and his poetry: He is Al-Harith bin Hilzah bin Badid... bin Ma'ad bin Adnan bin Adad, whose nickname is Abu Dhulaym, one of the nobles of the Bakr bin Wa'il tribe. He was extremely proud of his people to the point that a proverb was struck about him, saying: "More proud than Al-Harith bin Hilzah." We do not find any news about him except for the news related to the recitation of his poem, which became one of the Mu'allaqat. He lived for about 150 years and died in 570 AD. The author considers Al-Harith's poetry to have historical value, as it informs us of many of the battles that took place between the Arab tribes, the battles of Bakr and Taghlib in general and the battles they lost in particular. He mentions among these days what happened between Taghlib and Tamim... Al-Asma'i considered Al-Harith bin Hilzah to be one of the most prominent poets, and Ibn Salam was considered to be from the sixth class, which includes Amra bin Kulthum and Antarah bin Shaddad. The author also touches on Al-Harith's poetry, which is scattered throughout volumes such as Al-Mufaddaliyat, Al-Hayawan, Al-Amali, and other literary and linguistic books that attracted the attention of orientalists and were translated into their languages ​​due to their importance. After that, he provides news about Bakr bin Wa'il, the poet's tribe, and the connection of its role to historical events in the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods, as well as other news about the Basus War, its causes, and the most important historical sources that wrote about it. Finally, he presents Al-Harith bin Hilzah's ode, explaining the context of each poem and its relevance to the words and meanings.
