Al-Bakharzi is considered a literary icon of the Seljuk era, who lived at the height of the literary period of the Seljuk Empire, and he was its image in poetry and prose, especially during that period when their minister, Nizam al-Mulk, was running the country, showing kindness to writers, promoting poets, and organizing them into his diwani. He was thus their benefactor, the focus of their attention, and the highest example for their praise. Thus, we see them raising their hands to him in gratitude, and their poems praising him. Al-Bakharzi is one of these writers, and his collection of poems is full of praise and commendation for him. Perhaps the Seljuk period is the least studied literary period, and is considered a dark stage in the field of Arabic studies. Therefore, Dr. Muhammad Al-Tunji studied this era, and shed a clear light on the political and literary conditions that left their mark on Al-Bakharzi. This book includes Al-Bakharzi’s life from his youthful pursuit of knowledge until his death in 467 AH - 1074 AD. After that, the author studied his poetry and general themes to be an example for the writers of his time. In conclusion, he presented what was available in Arabic, and what he found of his Persian poetry in translation.
