The Diwan of Aws ibn Hajar is one of the most prominent poetic references in the Arab heritage, remaining popular among scholars until the thirteenth century. Ibn al-Sikkit's commentary on this collection is addressed in several important references, such as Shawahed al-Mughni by al-Suyuti and Kashf al-Zunun by Haji Khalifa. It was reprinted in Vienna in 1892 by the orientalist Rudolf Jaber, despite criticism directed at it by orientalists Barthes and Fisher. The author added numerous additions to this edition drawn from other sources and manuscripts, which added scholarly value to the collection.
