Al-Afwah Al-Awdi is considered one of the oldest Arab poets, to the point that some say he is the oldest of all poets and the first to write poetry. Critics and historians have greatly praised Al-Afwah's poetic and tribal stature, and have considered him one of the most famous Arab knights in terms of strength and character. They have seen his superiority over other poets in words and descriptions that had never been used before, demonstrating their admiration for his poetic talent. Most of his poetry was about wisdom, enthusiasm, and chivalry, and he is considered one of the wise poets. Most of his poetry was full of bragging about his heroism and the heroism of his people in wars in which they achieved overwhelming victories. In addition, he used precise imagery that was rare in the pre-Islamic era. His poetry was full of difficult vocabulary, which added to the richness of the language dictionaries, and it is rare to find a linguistic dictionary that does not include dozens of poetic examples of him. In the folds of this book, the researcher recorded what he collected of poems and verses of Al-Afwah Al-Azdi, attaching to that his study on the Arabs of the North and the Arabs of the South, with a translation of the poet and a manuscript of the collection, then his collection with a translation of the poet from the Book of Songs and the Book of Institutes of Textual Texts.
