Diwan of Ibn Hani al-Andalusi

Abu al-Qasim Muhammad ibn Hani al-Azdi al-Andalusi, a literary poet, the most eloquent of the early and late Moroccan poets, was nicknamed the Mutanabbi of the West. He cared a lot about words, and al-Fath ibn Khaqan said of him: “A dangerous pendant, and a fresh literature garden, dedicated to seeking the strange, until he brought out his hidden pearls, and his inner self dazzled all the arts in it. He has poetry that arranges pearls to be crowned with it, and pearls appear when it is written, what is invented and born.” He was long-winded in poetry, many of his poems exceeded one hundred, and some of them reached two hundred, yet no matter how long he lengthened his poems, his weave did not weaken, but rather remained solid and strong in its composition. This length is not due to the exaggeration of the works of this poet, Ibn Hani al-Andalusi, through his collection, which is full of poems through which the topics were varied, and the meanings were arranged in the sweetest words of al-Mutanabbi of the Moroccans.
