Diwan al-Asma'iyyat is a collection of poetry by the Arab poet al-Asma'i, who lived in the second century AH. The book contains 92 poems and fragments, and includes poetic works from the pre-Islamic and Islamic eras. Al-Asma'i (Abu Sa'id Abd al-Malik ibn Quraib) was a proficient poet with a mastery of language and poetry. He was known for his mastery of narrative and history, which made him a reference in knowledge of language, poetry, and countries. Caliph al-Rashid nicknamed him "the Devil of Poetry" due to his exceptional poetic skill. The collection includes poets from the pre-Islamic and Islamic periods, and their poems are considered important historical and literary works that reflect various aspects of society and life during that period. Dr. Muhammad Nabil Tarefi edited this collection using a unique approach, integrating the Mufaḍāliyyat into the plurals, correcting errors, and completing incomplete texts using reliable poetic sources. The book also includes introductions to poets and explanations of unfamiliar terms and poetic meanings based on well-known literary and linguistic sources such as "Al-Ikhtiyarīn" by Abu al-Hasan al-Akhfash and "Lisan al-Arab" by Ibn Manzur, among others. This book is considered a valuable source of knowledge in Arabic literature, language, and the history of poetry in ancient times.
