Digital Field Game

This study examines social media platforms, one of the most prominent manifestations of the digital revolution we are experiencing. These platforms are increasingly witnessing a dynamic movement of development, spread, and influence. Therefore, the study attempts to uncover the secrets of this world, based on the theory of Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002), as an opportunity to focus on social media platforms as a virtual playing field for dominant actors seeking to maintain or strengthen their position within this field. Accordingly, this Bourdieuian analytical approach is essentially an attempt to avoid treating technology as an external structure or a special case from a theoretical perspective, with a desire to avoid the binary divisions between technology and society, or subject and subject. This study explores the hidden secrets of the game within social media platforms and the strategies and practices of their actors. It delves into the study of the inhabitants, the nature of life, and the conflicts inherent within the field of social media. It is an exploratory approach to field engineering through an internal (objective) analysis of the objective structure of the field, addressing the nature of relational life and the forms of conflicts occurring within the field, whether civil (internal) conflicts or external conflicts, and the underlying strategies. The study will explore how the players or competitors in this space are positioned in different positions in response to the set of capitals they possess. Within the same framework, we will discuss the "field game" in this virtual space in an attempt to clarify the nature and form of the game of hegemony and influence, its practices, and forms of differentiation through Bourdieu's theory from the perspective of the conflictual field.
