The Diwan of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan consists of two main sections: the first contains 71 personal poems, while the second section contains 78 exchange poems, which are poetic responses between the late Sheikh Zayed and a number of other poets. These poems are based on the harmony of meter and rhyme, a traditional style inherited from Nabati poetry. The poems in the collection reflect Sheikh Zayed's harmony with the surrounding poetic environment, evident in his interaction with poets through debates and the diversity of his poems' themes, ranging from romantic to patriotic to social. These poems are composed using specific Emirati meters, such as the Radah, the Wana, and the Taghrooda, in addition to a small number of poems composed using meters common in Nabati poetry, such as the Mankous, the Mashoob, and the Ramal. The poems in this collection had a significant impact on Nabati poetry, both locally and internationally, especially after their publication in newspapers and on the radio by Sheikh Zayed, may God rest his soul. The Poetry Academy, affiliated with the Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee in Abu Dhabi, has compiled these poems into "The Complete Poems Collection" by the late Sheikh Zayed. The collection offers readers a window into various aspects of Sheikh Zayed's personality, as the poems shed light on aspects of his biography and highlight his deep love for his country, his commitment to supporting friends, his patriotic sentiments, his interaction with those around him, his fatherly guidance to young people, and his sincere brotherly address to men.
