Al-Buraq and Layla the Chaste

It is one of the famous tales of chaste love, chivalry, and courage in Arabic literature, supported by a map illustrating the Arab tribes and clans known for their honor and nobility, with sources at the end of the play. Its events take place 140 years before the advent of Islam, in the lands of Rabi'ah ibn Nizar al-Adnaniyah, opposite the city of Shahrumiyah (Ahwaz). The plays of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi aim to encourage the audience to engage in critical thinking and historical and social analysis of the issues presented, particularly the poetic ones, which are distinguished by several prominent characteristics, especially those dealing with heritage and history. His Highness draws inspiration for most of his works from Arab and Islamic history, invoking its symbols and prominent figures, with a special focus on the local history of the UAE and the Gulf region. In essence, it is a re-reading of the past, not merely narrating but reinterpreting historical events and figures to highlight strengths and weaknesses and to extract lessons.
