This collection was born from the consequences of having a heart that feels too much. The author began writing when she wasn’t strong enough to speak. Growing up as a South Asian girl meant carrying too many feelings and too much silence, with a mind that never seemed to rest.
These poems are both a love letter to girlhood and a testament to the vulnerability of feeling deeply. They speak of family, of love that angers, hurts, and still somehow saves you. They speak of learning to live with what you hide and the complex beauty of surviving your own mind.
These poems are what came out instead of the words she couldn’t say. Every piece is a story of the moments she wishes she had spoken up. An answer to the question of what it means to keep feeling deeply when everything around you tells you not to.
