Author Name: Bridget Dingell
Bridget, originally known as Puck's Child, was born in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, where her father performed A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Shakespeare Festival. She subsequently pursued dance, acting, and comedy. Her astute observations, particularly of unspoken dynamics between people, her sensitivity to micro and macro injustices, her sense of style, and her love of opposites fueled her philosophy of life. In her quest to engage her creativity, she stumbled upon improvisation—based on movement and performance. She also discovered Voice Dialogue, a simple yet powerful technique for listening and connecting with our inner selves. It was developed by Drs. Sidra and Hal Stone, with whom Bridget trained and became mentors. The more she witnessed its restorative power for all kinds of people (including herself), the more she focused on the healing process. Her fascination led her to earn an MSW from Columbia University and gain clinical experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). In 2005, she founded the New York Institute of Voiceover, which offers accredited professional training for continuing education credits.
Bridget began writing as soon as she learned a little of the alphabet and how to hold a pencil. The first entry in her diary still exists, referring to anticipating a visit from "Aunt" Mary. Bridget was instinctively drawn to journaling, where she expressed her unspoken words and unwelcome thoughts.
She eventually wrote for a wider audience (than just one). Along with fellow philanthropists, she wrote, co-produced, and co-wrote one of the first web series, MUDDERS, the first sitcom. She wrote and performed an alternative theater piece, Off the Rack: Cruelty in Retail, using humor to explore the role of women in society, and wrote and co-produced a very short film about an elderly delinquent, The Job Interview. She has worked as an entertainment journalist for Comic Bible, Broadway.com, SHOW BUSINESS, and was the daily correspondent and festival line producer for 1010 Radio and Hollywood.com at the Cannes Film Festival (2000 and 2002).
She has written inspirational and educational articles on health and wellness for numerous publications, including More.com and Passion Test Daily. She contributed a chapter introducing the concept of the "Final 8th" to the audio anthology Conversation (2012), and now a book titled "The Final 8th: Enlist Your Inner Selves To Accomplish Your Goals," which is scheduled to be published by New World Library in 2020.
