The scent of narcissus
A collection of short stories that carry within them the harvest of years, as I derived its idea from my daily observations, experiences, and coexistence with my students and colleagues, but it is not related to a specific character, as I formulated it to be a general case in which sometimes more than one experience and more than one character overlap, as the reader will live with the woman who sacrifices her life for others in “The Handkerchief”, the oppressed girl in “Abeer”, the arrogant girl “Shaza Al-Nargis”, the struggling teacher “Professor Marzouq”, the traitorous friend “In the Wind”, the filial piety “A Moment of Birth”, the crushed employee “Skyscrapers”, and there is a glimpse of the past through the story “Bars of Silence”.
I wrote this collection during my participation in the Aqdar Writing Program, which was organized by the Ministry of Education two years ago. The Ministry of Education printed limited copies without signing a contract or monopolizing the publishing rights, simply to publish samples of the program’s works during that period. Then, we were left with the choice to publish them, which were met with remarkable interest and were chosen by a secondary school in Sharjah as the best publication last year. Given the insistence of my colleagues and students to obtain copies of them, especially the keenness of a large number of students to search for them at the exhibition, and the disappointment of not publishing them, this prompted me to take this step and approach your house, which has become a monument of the word and a gateway to culture, to publish my collection, asking Almighty God for success.
