The book contains poetic verses by Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi, and His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi (Ruler of Sharjah) took on the tasks of collecting, verifying, editing, and annotating its vocabulary.
The Poet: Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi, who ruled the Emirate of Sharjah from 1883 to 1914.
Number of Poems: The book contains 8 eloquent and articulate poems.
Reason for the Title: The poems clearly reflect a blend of "Al-Asa" (grief and distress) and "**Al-Shakima**" (dignity, defiance, self-respect, and refusal to yield).
Historical Content: The verses document the political and social conditions of the Emirate of Sharjah and the circumstances surrounding the ruler during his reign.
"His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi states in the book's introduction: This book contains a collection of poetic verses, eight poems in total, which I have titled "Wise Poems Between Grief and Pride from the Poetry of Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi." Anyone who reads these poems will clearly notice this title in the poems due to the wisdom, and the recurring themes of grief, sadness, and pride (which signifies dignity, defiance, and refusal to yield). I have titled each poem according to its content and dated its writing. I have also parsed and clarified the words, indicating their grammatical roles. Across all the poems, readers will discern the conditions during a period of Sheikh Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi's rule, which extended from 1883 until his death in 1914. The character of that ruler also becomes clear to us.
