Which eye am I talking about?

The reader's eye. The critic's eye. The painter's eye. The photographer's eye. The artist's eye. The journalist's eye. And many other eyes have become part of the vocabulary of common terms in this era. It happens that a person tells himself or others to read a particular text through the eyes of a reader rather than a critic, or vice versa.
How many eyes do we have?
Is the eye the primary key to reception, understanding, and interpretation? Or is it merely an intermediary?
There is no doubt that the interpretation of texts cannot be achieved without reading them (hearing is a form of reading), and that a text that is not read or heard cannot be interpreted. Therefore, these aspects are so intertwined that it is impossible to dispense with one for the other.
