My birthday gift for you:
Christmas arrives as our children grow older, more mature, and more demanding. On this occasion, many parents are torn about choosing the type, size, or value of a gift. They often resort to purchasing "ordinary" gifts that may fall short of the ultimate meaning of a gift: conveying to the child how important they are in our lives and how much we care for them.
Eid al-Adha has arrived and the hero of the story is wondering about the most precious gift he could give to his daughter. In a beautiful monologue, he is wondering about the most precious gift he could give to his daughter... He starts listing the most precious gifts, from the possible and the impossible, to the strangest and the most beautiful... He concludes that the best gift he could give is within his reach, as it is within the reach of every mother or father, and that is time.
A text that teaches children and parents that the value of a gift is not in the money, but in the amount of time and love that we share in our daily interests between laughter, play and seriousness.
