Instead, he used this journey to present his views on Russia's history and situation, and to mock the countries he passed through. He mocked Germany and England, and especially France, where he began by quoting a line from Fontenelle: \"The Frenchman is deprived of reason; and if he had reason, he would consider it the greatest misfortune that could befall him.\" He then made no mention of Italy or Switzerland, neither good nor ill.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"text-align: center;\"\u003e\"The Meek One\" is one of Dostoevsky's most famous works, in which he delves into the human psyche of a man standing before his wife's corpse.
