There are stories that seep deep into your soul, shaking you violently and challenging you to turn away. That's exactly what happened to me with the story of The Nightingale. The truth is, I did everything in my power not to write this novel, but my research into World War II led me to the story of the young woman who created an escape route from occupied France, and I couldn't break free from it. Thus, her story became the starting point, and it is in essence a story of heroism, risk, and fierce courage. I couldn't distract myself from it; I kept digging, exploring, and reading, until this story led me to other equally astonishing stories. It was impossible for me to ignore those stories. Thus, I found myself burdened by a single question that inhabited me, a question that remains as relevant today as it was seventy years ago: Under what circumstances would I risk my life as a wife and mother? And more importantly, under what circumstances would I risk my child's life to save a stranger?
This question holds a central position in The Nightingale. For in love, we discover who we want to be; but in war, we discover who we are. And perhaps sometimes we don't want to know what we are capable of doing to survive.
In war, women's stories have always been subject to neglect and oblivion. Women usually return from battlefields to their homes and say nothing, then move on with their lives. The Nightingale, then, is a novel about those women, and the bold choices they made to save their children and preserve the way of life they had grown accustomed to.

You may return most new, unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (2 to 4 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (1 to 2 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (2 to 4 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply email us or contact us via WhatsApp. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
Domestic and International Shipping
Domestic Shipping and Delivery We strive to deliver your orders as quickly as possible within the UAE. Delivery usually takes 1 to 4 business days, depending on the region and shipping conditions.
Shipping Fees:
For orders less than 50 AED: shipping fee is 20 AED.
For orders from 50 AED to less than 100 AED: shipping fee is 15 AED.
For orders from 100 AED to less than 250 AED: shipping fee is 10 AED.
For orders 250 AED or more: free shipping.
Shipping fees are automatically calculated at checkout based on the total purchase value.International Shipping
We can ship to virtually any address in the world.
