Anyone who listens to most religious guidance, preaching, advice, lessons and sermons, and what is popular in the halls of some scholars, and among some preachers and preachers, will find that the Prophet’s biography is limited to the aspect of poverty and need, and the hardship and difficulty in the life of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. This is coupled with asceticism and detachment from this world, turning away from its pleasures, avoiding money as much as possible, and preventing saving, as if money is an adornment of this worldly life that it is preferable to leave and not become attached to. Some of them may add to what is wrongly understood about trusting in God Almighty, and that sustenance is predestined and one must submit to fate and destiny...
Most authors, preachers, and callers have mentioned one aspect of the Prophet’s biography regarding financial affairs, while neglecting the other aspect of his kingdom, wealth, abundance, giving, and generosity. This is despite the fact that all of this is established and documented in books of the Sunnah, biography, biographies, the lives of the Companions, and other topics. There is little research, especially today, on the financial aspect and the financial affairs of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, regarding ownership, earnings, spending, charity, and endowments.
The reader and listener often find themselves in contradiction in many matters. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was poor, yet he sought refuge from poverty, which is almost equivalent to disbelief. The Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed to be destitute, which is synonymous with poverty, even though poverty and destitution are among the primary reasons for deserving zakat, which was forbidden to him and his family. He affirmed that the upper hand is better than the lower hand, and it was proven that he is more generous with goodness than the blowing wind.
They say that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was dependent on Khadija's wealth (may Allah be pleased with her), even though the husband is obligated to provide for his wife, and that guardianship belongs to the man because one of its causes is providing for her!... They repeat that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would tie a stone to his stomach because of hunger, and would not eat his fill for two days without eating enough bread, and would leave his house wandering because of hunger. So where is his wealth, his earnings, his trade, and what he was entitled to from spoils of war, vomit, and booty?!
If Khadija (may Allah be pleased with her) was so rich, affluent and luxurious, then where did her money go during her life and after her death?!... These problems and contradictions were the impetus for this study to uncover the truth, remove ambiguity, reconcile statements, identify the intended meaning of the reports, clarify the special circumstances of each case and explain the reality of religion, Islam and Sharia within the context of research into the Prophetic economy, so that the Prophetic economy would be a model and example in all that relates to his money (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), his work, his earnings, the multiplicity of his resources, the ways of spending it, the types of his donations and charity, in personal matters and in public areas.
In addition, the author's goal was to reconcile the current trend towards Islamic economics in order to adopt it in modern and global economic thought, while correcting the misleading or common images of the Prophetic economy, that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, who was the Chosen One and the head of state, was poor and called for poverty!...
The author has proven that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was a brilliant economist. He sought to present the neglected aspect of the Prophet’s biography, and responded to the limitation of studying it from a narrow perspective, and what is associated with that of encouraging poverty, calling for it, and preferring it to wealth, along with what was reported of his, may God bless him and grant him peace, seeking refuge from poverty.
The author has corrected the image, gathered evidence from the Holy Quran, the Prophet's Hadiths, the books of the Prophet's biography, biographies, the lives of the Companions, and history. He has presented the statements of the commentators, scholars, hadith commentators, and ancient and contemporary jurists, clarified the interpretation of the Holy Quran, extracted the Prophet's Hadiths and Athar using a precise and concise scientific method, removed contradictions, responded to doubts and false sayings, and refuted the fabrications against the Prophet's biography.
This thesis is considered the best thesis on the Prophet's biography because it revived the Sunnah and the biography, and extracted from the depths of books the correct facts about the financial aspect of the biography, corrected the errors, and refuted the nonsense attributed to it. The author also discussed the hadiths that mentioned the poverty and wealth of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and reached excellent results, while shedding light - during the study - on the events of the Prophet's biography, explaining the jurisprudence of the biography, and extracting lessons and rulings from it. He proposed writing a thesis on "The Financial Characteristics of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace."
