Mikhail Bulgakov wrote the novel "Fatal Eggs" during a difficult period in his life. It is a bitterly sarcastic novel, and a scathing satire of the reckless adventurous spirit that drove some Soviet leaders, who exploited science, culture, and knowledge for stupid purposes. I think that if the great leaders of the era had paid attention to the foresight and future vision contained in this work for all that the country's situation would lead to, they would have spared their countries and peoples many tragedies and disappointments, which accumulated over seventy years and finally led to the collapse of the Soviet Union. This novel was admired and encouraged by Maxim Gorky, but it was met with sharp criticism. The writer was accused of "bad faith" and of following a "new bourgeois mood," and so on, which caused him a lot of pain and worries, in addition, of course, to the fight and the ban on the publication of some of his works. It is, as the reader will see, one of the most beautiful and convincing early science fiction novels, with all the strange events that take place in it from the moment Professor Perskov's invention is hijacked until the frost that sweeps the country.
