Chapters in Literature and Criticism

In addition to the exceptional literary talent of the great writer "Taha Hussein," he was also a distinguished literary critic and the founder of a unique and important school of literary criticism. This school viewed texts from an objective scientific perspective, moving away from the impressionistic school of criticism or the psychological analysis of the writer's personality. He believed that a literary work is a social phenomenon resulting from an individual's interaction with their community, its culture, and their perception of its problems. Therefore, criticizing a literary work necessitates a comprehensive reading of the society from which the writer emerged, which is precisely what the Dean of Arabic Literature did in this book. He presented critical readings of significant literary works by Al-Aqqad and Al-Hakim, in addition to other chapters where he offered his opinion on certain literary and cultural issues that evolved into highly sophisticated intellectual battles between him and prominent thinkers, all aiming to reach the truth.
